Peter and Margarita

Meet our team

Dr. Margarita Hernandez

Co-Founder & Chief Science Officer

Margarita is a decorated scientist & researcher with deep experience in developing medical device technologies. She earned her PhD from the University of Michigan in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology after graduating with a bachelors in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Texas in San Antonio. Margarita has several years of experience in commercializing novel healthcare solutions, including biomedical devices and software. With an impressive history of mentoring successful startups in the Ann Arbor tech-community, Margarita has now focused her talents on providing skin-safe germicidal light to our post-COVID society.

Peter Forhan

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Pete (BSE Materials Engineering, University of Michigan) invented Halo in 2019 during the onset of his obsession with the global implications of UV-C Light. Pete began light-based product development in 2019; first creating an ultraviolet laundry machine and then quickly pivoting to make skin-safe germicidal light scalable & accessible. Always itching to pitch, Pete has worked incessantly to bring light-based skin decontamination into our normal human routines. With a deep foundational background in materials engineering & quantum physical interactions, Pete decided to forego traditional methods of washing in favor of becoming the first long-term 'human trial' of a light-based lifestyle. In 2020, Pete has not used body soap, face wash, deodorant, or laundry machines, just light.
